1 Advanced Fluid Mechanic Final Project In figure (1) there is a 2-D view of a sedan car inside a wind tunnel. Wind tunnel is a tube or channel with air moving inside. Wind tunnels are used to copy the action of an object which travels inside the air. Figure 1 Dimensions of the channel are shown in figure 1. The fluid is air. Use some laminar flow Reynolds number and some turbulent to calculate the inlet velocities such as: 5, 10,20,40,80,100 km/h. By using the ansys fluent software run the calculation for each case. A. Derive the velocity and pressure distribution around the car and calculate the drag force on the surface of the car. B. show the contours of x-velocity, y-velocity, velocity magnitude and pressure using the CFD-post. C. Show the flow pattern and contour of streamline around the car. D. Discuss that how the inlet velocity, and shape of the car affects the flow pattern, drag force vortexes and size of the vortexes behind the car. 2 Guidance: You can change the properties of the air (density or viscosity) to obtain the related Reynolds number for laminar and turbulent How to open the mesh file inside the fluent software: Open fluent file read mesh mesh file location select the mesh and press ok.
